Our approach is based on four elements:
Gentle encouragement. You won't find any harsh task masters or overly exuberant cheerleaders here. I respect your autonomy and your natural pace in life. You won't be rushed or forced into anything. I believe you can create a life that works for you through your willingness to show up as you are and to take small, consistent steps in the direction of your desires.
A mix of depth and lightness. Introverts are muti-faceted and I value and appreciate all aspects of the human experience. I infuse fun and levity into our community so we can experience laughter and joy together. And I make space for depth and vulnerability as well. You are always welcome and encouraged to show up in whatever mood you are in.
Introvert friendly. As introverts, we often need time alone to process our thoughts and emotions. I design many of IU's events to give you the time and space for solo activities like journaling, responding to polls, and working on your own projects. And we come together to discuss and share ideas and stories after you've had time to put your thoughts together a bit.
Safe to explore. You don't always need a five year plan or to know all the answers ahead of time. Sometimes the path to clarity is a wandering one. You are encouraged to try things out, even when it feels like you have no idea how it will work out or if you're capable of pulling it off. Often the fun and excitement of life is found in the unknown.
Navigating the world as a quieter, more reflective person doesn't have to be so isolating. You don't have to figure it all out on your own. There are many opportunities to connect with people in ways that are more calm and relaxed, that feel good, where it's ok to be yourself.
