Hi everyone,
Tomorrow's event is focused on quiet power and today I have a sore throat that makes talking above a whisper too much for me. That is an interesting coincidence. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to talk normally.
But I did play around with the idea of not talking for tomorrow's event. That would be a bit weird perhaps, but it kind of intrigues me. I don't know how it would go. Maybe it would be really interesting and creative. Maybe it would be totally awkward and a flop. Who knows?
But the idea did remind me of an episode of a TV show I watch. It's called Evil and it's about a priest-in-training, a psychologist, and a technology contractor who investigate possible supernatural incidents for the Catholic church. This one episode, S is for Silence, is almost entirely silent. It was a bit weird to watch at first, but it was so good. It was such a unique take on storytelling. It showed me that you can tell a really engaging and engrossing story with hardly any words at all.
I know they did it all the time in silent movies, but I haven't seen too many of those. Maybe I'll explore some this month. To show myself that quietness can be just as engaging as talking, even when it comes to something like storytelling.
Do you have any silent movies or other quiet things related to storytelling that you like? Would love some suggestions if you do.
See you tomorrow. I imagine I'll feel better and be able to talk fine. If not, I hope you're game for experimenting with a quieter event. Either way, I'll definitely be there.
